Biography

Ute Stephan is a Professor and Chair of Entrepreneurship at Aston University Birmingham (UK), the Director of the Aston Centre for Research into International Entrepreneurship and Business (ACRIEB), and editor-in-chief of Applied Psychology: An International Review. Ute holds a PhD in psychology from the University of Marburg (Germany) and was previously at the University of Sheffield, the London School of Economics, KU Leuven (Belgium), and TU Dresden (Germany). Her research explores the relationships between culture, institutions and entrepreneurship. Other interests include social entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial leadership. Her work is published in outlets such as the Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Management Science, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Occupational and Organisational Psychology among others. In 2016 she co-edited a special issue on Advances in the Psychology of Entrepreneurship in Applied Psychology. Ute currently co-leads the EUR 2.5 Mio. European Commission funded SEFORIS project – Social Entrepreneurship as a Force for more Innovative and Inclusive Societies (www.seforis.eu).
