Currency 
The currency used in Ireland is the euro (€). Visa and Mastercard are accepted almost everywhere, however, an American Express card is not as widely accepted. There are various ATM’s and internationally recognized banks throughout the city and city center.
Note: Traveler’s Cheques are not widely used and most banks won’t accept them.
Weather
Although the weather in Ireland throughout the summer is beautiful and generally quite mild, it is always advisable to be prepared for rain. Dress in layers, have an umbrella at the ready and of course, keep something waterproof handy just in case!
Electronics
Irish plugs are three-pronged and the electricity supply is 230v 50hz – the same as in Britain. We recommend that you bring a couple of adapters for your various gadgets if you are travelling from outside of Ireland.
Leap Card
The Leap Visitor Card is the most convenient public transport ticket available for tourists and visitors to Dublin. Get unlimited travel over your selected time period and go anywhere you want in the city and suburbs of Dublin, on any public transport you choose. You can even travel to and from the Airport at the start and end of your trip without any additional charge.

Bicycle Hire
Dublin is one of the top ten bike friendly cities in the world. With over 120km of bike-friendly lanes, Dublin is the perfect city to hop on a bike and explore when the weather permits.
Dublin City Bikes are custom-designed bikes self-rental bikes with stations distributed throughout the city centre to enable easy access and optimal use. Located in close proximity to each other, every station has a minimum of 15 stands making it an easy and enjoyable to use service.
All stations are equipped with Annual Card or 3 Day Ticket users. A number of the terminals allow you to purchase the 3 Day tickets via credit card. An annual card costs €20 and the first 30 minutes use of each bike is free.
Language
English is spoken by everyone while Irish is generally confined to pockets of the south-west, west and north-western coastal areas and road signs which are bilingual.
Emergency Numbers and Dialling Codes
Emergency numbers in Ireland are 999 or 112.
The international dialling code for Ireland is 00-353. When making international calls, you will need to dial 00 + your country code.
Smoking
Under current legislation, smoking has been banned in all public areas, work places, including restaurants, bars and hotels. There are substantial penalties in place for those found to be in breach of these regulations.
Shopping
Opening hours are normally from 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Saturday, with late night shopping on Thursday evenings until 21:00. Most shops are open on Sundays from 12:00 to 18:00. There are a number of convenience stores, cafés, restaurants and bars in the local area including a bank and ATM.
